Northern Cross Community Church

Northern Cross Community Church was officially planted by Pastor Lawrence Peck and his wife Melonie around the year 2000. The current building was completed in 2003 and was later pastored by Pastor Wayne Hagerman and Pastor Jon Beers. Currently Pastor John Lewis is leading the local church as the local church reaches out into the community with the Gospel message of salvation.

The Gospel Message

The path of salvation is this: repentance of sin and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Saviour. Repentance is not just sorrow for bad behaviour and rebellion against God, but includes a turning away from such things. Jesus died in our place to pay for our sins and rose from the grave alive again on the third day according to Scripture. Everyone who calls upon Him for salvation from judgment through faith will be saved and given eternal life.

Doctrines and Beliefs

Our doctrines and beliefs are in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

Meet the Pastor

Pastor John Lewis is originally from Biloxi, Mississippi (United States) and is both a military veteran (USAF) and retired police officer (Biloxi Police Department). His formal education includes a bachelor's degree in Christian Theology, a masters in business leadership and management, and a Master of Divinity in church planting and evangelism. His home church was First Baptist Church of Biloxi on the Mississippi Coast.

Pastor John first came to Northern Cross in October of 2021 to guest pastor the church. He then returned eight more times before officially moving to Happy Valley-Goose Bay in January 2024 from St John's. His ministry is only possible because of Mile One Mission, the church planting ministry of Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pearl, NL. Pastor John joined the Mile One Mission team in March 2021 and later completed an assessment with Send Network Canada (Canadian National Baptist Convention) and Acts 29 Canada as part of building his ministry leadership skills.
